Wedding photography:
Never select a wedding photographer simply by viewing their website. Photography software programs can enhance photographs and promote false talent. Always ask your wedding coordinator, minister, musicians, florist, resort employees or anyone in the wedding industry for an opinion on the photographer or establishment that you are considering to capture your special occasion. Make sure that your photographer is not only talented but also very friendly and never pushy or lacking in patience.
Traditional or photojournalistic?
Photojournalistic wedding photography is not a new style or fashion. It has been around for decades. All knowledgeable professional photographers have to combine both traditional photography and photojournalistic photography to capture a couple's wedding accurately and efficiently. Traditional photography is necessary for group photos and portraits. Photojournalistic photography is a must for capturing spontaneous candid moments, soft personal interactions and lively receptions.
What time should I get married?
With the use of polarizing filters and soft flash units, anytime is a good time to get married in the Virgin Islands. But, early morning weddings are cool and excellent for capturing vibrant blue & green colors. Morning beach weddings are ideal from 8:30-11:00 am to avoid tourists. Sunset weddings are great for capturing warm gold and red tones. Sunset weddings are very popular, so make sure to reserve your photographer immediately after selecting your wedding date.
What to wear?
The coolest Caribbean months are from November through April in the Virgin Islands. During this time, all wedding attire is comfortable except heavy wool suits. During the months of May through October, the weather is usually very hot and humid. Wedding attire should be limited to light comfortable dresses for the brides and light suits or linens for the grooms and guests.
Note: Brides - make sure that you protect your skin from sun damage or annoying tan lines that are not compatible with the straps or the cut of your dress.
